3D-Printed Business Cards

Client Personal + Studio

Custom 3D-printed business cards with embossed logos and an integrated QR code that opens a digital vCard — an object that lasts long enough to feel worth keeping, and works whether the person actually reads a paper card or not.

3D-printed business cards with embossed logo and integrated QR code

Paper business cards get thrown away. A card that’s an object — printed, weighted, embossed — gets kept, or at minimum, remembered until it’s photographed and thrown away. Either result is a better outcome than the pocket-lint-and-recycling default.

The design brief

Same footprint as a paper card. Roughly 1mm thick. Embossed logo on the front, integrated QR code recessed into the surface so it survives handling and still scans reliably. Optional NFC chip embedded in a slot on the back for tap-to-share on newer phones.

What the QR does

Scanning opens a digital vCard — name, email, phone, links — that saves directly into the contact app on iPhone or Android. No app install required. If someone loses the physical card, they’ve already got the digital record.

Personal and studio versions

The design supports two variants sharing the same base geometry: a personal card (RL monogram embossed) and a Pixonics studio card (PX glyph embossed). Same print time, same material, different embossing — printed side-by-side in a single job.
